What started as one technician with a service truck in 1976 has grown into the Upstate's most trusted name in heating and cooling. Three generations of family ownership, one unwavering commitment to honest work.
Upstate Climate was founded in 1976 when Jim Caldwell left his job at a national HVAC chain and started running service calls out of his own truck. He was tired of watching customers get charged for work they didn't need, and he believed there was a better way to run an HVAC business.
His approach was simple: show up on time, diagnose the real problem, charge a fair price, and stand behind your work. It turned out people were hungry for that kind of honesty. Within a few years, word of mouth had built a customer base that stretched across Greenville County and into the surrounding communities.
Today, the company is led by the second and third generations of the Caldwell family. The trucks are newer and the equipment is more advanced, but the values haven't changed. Every technician we hire is trained to treat your home the way they'd treat their own — with respect, care, and a commitment to doing the job right the first time.
